In 1963 Western Reserve Residences, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, purchased The Alcazar primarily to provide housing for independent senior living. The Mission Statement of the corporation is “to provide a residence with an atmosphere consistent with the Christian Science way of life.” In the years since, The Alcazar's permanent residents have reflected an interesting blend of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity.

Today the permanent residents enjoy independent living with many services, including van transportation, weekly housekeeping, planned activities, fresh delicious meals available daily, as well as interesting conversation with short-term guests in the lobby.
